AFRIPORT International values the importance of community and working hand in hand with our partners to support their needs and address their challenges. Rural communities- particularly small-share farmers and agricultural cooperatives- are at the core of our business model and Community First Approach.
To ensure the availability of high-quality agriculture products for the regional and international market, we start with understanding the challenges, tools, and resources that our partners need to succeed.
Strengthening regional and international trade for our partners starts with listening and building more resilient communities. We work closely with partners to then find available markets and fair prices for their produce in order to improve their economic wellbeing and livelihoods.
In addition to expanding access to regional and international markets, AFRIPORT seeks to support small-share farmers and cooperatives through a range of initiatives along the value-chain. We are actively partnering with international donors, government, and the private sector to:
Provide access to off-grid energy solutions
Introduce innovative technologies at the farm and cooperative levels to reduce post-harvest loss
Strengthen the financial and business capacity of farmers and cooperatives
Increase the shelf-life of perishable goods through value-addition and cold storage innovations after harvest
Support farmers to achieve internationally recognized standards and certifications, such as organic and Fair Trade
Facilitate public-private partnerships with solar, university and technology companies
